The story of Remnant takes place in the aftermath of a worldwide cataclysm. A richly diverse world was plunged into The Great Darkness. During this time of chaos, a religious order rose to power, offering stability and peace in exchange for absolute loyalty. In time, the world forgot how or why the great darkness occurred.

Life for those within the kingdom of the Citadel became focused on devotion to the Order.

In ancient times, there were some who discovered the use of 'majic'. These individuals were sought after around the world. Some were used to gain wisdom, some for wealth, and others for power. Eventually many majic wielders came together to resist the abuse of their abilities by the rich and powerful. This brought terrible retribution from the rulers of the world, but none more devastating than within the Citadel.

In the Citadel, the Order proclaimed majic wielders to be evil creatures intent on death and destruction. Terror gripped the land as neighbor turned against neighbor, family against family. Into the chaos a charismatic priest rose to prominence by promising to root out the majic users among the people, and to restore the kingdom to its ancient glory.

The world of Remnant is in desperate need of rebirth and renewal. The kingdom outside the Citadel walls, everything is pretty horrible. The people are oppressed, but most of them don't realize it. They sincerely believe that Lord Ganix is a savior offering needed safety and security, so they overlook the cruelty and malice that come along with it.

Aryne's journey will turn her world upside down, shaking her pillars of certainty to their very foundations. The more she learns about who she really is and how things really are, the more danger she will find herself in … but she will not journey alone. She will encounter others along a similar path of awakening and discovery, and together they will become the Remnant of a world long forgotten.
